San Antonio Wedding Planners, Principles in Action, love traditions. However, with changing times, even traditions need some air to breath, which is why couples adapt them to fit their needs. Today’s blogpost is all about changing traditions, and how couples can still tweak them up while keeping the spirit these traditions alive!
With every wedding that I plan, I am exposed to different traditions and methods that are unique to the respective wedding. Even though with changing times, traditions have changed too, but at the heart of each, the gist is same: each makes the nuptial for the couple a unique experience.
Bold & Beautiful Bridal Party
The bridal party that traditionally consists of bridesmaids from the brides side and groomsmen from the grooms side. However, there is absolutely no gender restrictions now. Grooms are seen standing beside a female best woman, and females are escorted down the aisle by their male friends. The changing tradition has been warmly welcomed because some of the brides can now choose their mother or grandmother as their maid of honor.
Gift Registry Becomes Honeymoon Registry
This culture is seen most particularly in couples who have been living together prior to their wedding. They are already somewhat settled, and do not require setting up a new house for themselves. For this reason, they can make do without all those household items that they will get from their friends and relatives at the wedding. Honeymoon Registry is a brilliant tweak of traditions as couples can ask friends to contribute to their honeymoon via a honeymoon registry.
The First Look
The age old custom of not seeing the groom before the wedding has also taken a back seat, with the couples now opting to have a private time together seeing each other before exchanging their vows. This is a special, intimate moment spent by the bride and groom and a perfect time to get pictures as well. The bride and groom are more relaxed as they have seen each other, which provides a great opportunity to the photographers to shoot some great shots!
Candies for Dessert
Ah, one of my favorite change to the tradition. Now couples in lieu of their wedding cake can opt to serve an elaborate candy and dessert buffet to their guests. It’s a sweet change to the tradition as it opens up a great array of choices of both bride and groom to choose their favorite candies and sweets in the dessert menu instead of having just a cake! Moreover the trend is to choose a specific theme as per your wedding theme and design the wedding candy buffet around it.
